The NCLEX-RN is administrated by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and delivered by Pearson Vue. However, it is the RNANT/NU that assesses a candidate’s eligibility to write the examination in the NT or NU. This means you must apply to both Pearson Vue and the RNANT/NU to write the examination. Both applications are due a minimum of 30 days before the date you wish to write the exam.

What do I need to do to write the NCLEX-RN in the Northwest Territories or Nunavut?

1. Apply with the RNANT/NU to establish eligibility to write the NCLEX-RN:

The following documents must be submitted to the RNANT/NU office:

2. Apply with Pearson Vue to register for the NCLEX-RN:

Visit http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex to register to write the NCLEX-RN. It is important you provide accurate spelling of your legal name and that you correctly state the date and location you wish to write the NCLEX-RN. Please note, there is a $50.00 fee to make any changes once your registration is processed. Once your registration is processed, Pearson Vue will send you an acknowledgment email.
Your NCLEX-RN registration will remain open for 365 days with Pearson Vue. This time period begins when the RNANT/NU receives notification from Pearson Vue that you have successfully registered with them.

What happens after I have applied to both the RNANT/NU and Pearson Vue?

The RNANT/NU will assess your application for examination and will declare you “eligible to write”. This decision is communicated with Pearson Vue. Pearson Vue then will send you an Authorization to Test (ATT) email. You must take the examination within the validity dates indicated on the ATT email. You are required to bring your documentation showing your ATT when you write the examination.

If your application for examination is denied, you will be notified by the RNANT/NU office via email within 14 days.

How much does it cost to write the NCLEX-RN?

  • Administration Fee of $42.00 CAD ($40.00 + GST) to the RNANT/NU
  • NCLEX-RN Fee of $360.00 CAD (paid directly to NCSBN online using a credit card)

**An additional $50.00 fee is required by NCSBN for any changes to your initial online registration.

How can I request accommodations for the NCLEX-RN?

Candidates with a professionally diagnosed disability, impairment, condition, or disorder that may prevent them from writing the exam in the usual method or environment may request accommodation arrangements such as:

  • A separate room for writing the exam
  • Extra time
  • Adjustable contrast
  • Font size
  • Assistive personnel (e.g., readers)
  • Sign language interpreters

Requests for accommodations must include confirmation of the diagnosis from a qualified health professional. Accommodation requests must be indicated on the NCLEX-RN Application Form submitted to the RNANT/NU.

A letter from the qualified health professional must be submitted directly to the RNANT/NU and is kept confidential. If the request for accommodations is approved, only the type of accommodation required will be submitted to Pearson Vue. No other information will be shared with the exam provider. Please contact the RNANT/NU office if you have any questions regarding accommodation requests.

How will I get my exam results?

You will be notified of your NCLEX-RN results by the RNANT/NU. Please do not email or call Pearson Vue for your results.
