The Northwest Territories and Nunavut Nursing Profession Acts state that to legally work as a Registered Nurse in the NT or Nunavut, you must hold a current certificate of registration issued by the RNANT/NU. The time to complete the registration process varies; however, if you are considering working in the NT or Nunavut, you should contact us prior to securing employment to allow enough time to complete the registration process. The Registration Committee is a volunteer committee and meets every three weeks to review applications for registration.
The following are the requirements for registration with the RNANT/NU

Current registration or eligibility of registration as a Registered Nurse in a Canadian province or territory.

Fluency in speaking and understanding the English language.

Satisfactory nursing practice as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 1125 hours in the last five years or having fulfilled other requirements set by the Registration Committee.

Satisfactory reference from previous/current employer (s).

Evidence of “good character”.

Evidence of “fitness to engage in the practice of nursing”.

Proof of identity and legal name.
