The RNANT/NU Northern Nurses Quilt Project was initiated in support of the Lighting the Lamp Campaign. This fundraising campaign supports the Canadian Nursing History Collection, a legacy of almost 100 years of nursing. The Northern Nurses Quilt was created by individual nurses and student nurses from across the North who designed and donated blocks which represented "Nursing" or the "North" or both to them. Each block is unique, but collectively the quilt portrays Northern nursing.
Donations for the quilt were rewarded with draw tickets on the quilt. The draw took place at the CNF luncheon at the CNA Biennial, June, 2004. The winner of the quilt was Heather Redshaw, a nurse working in Yellowknife, NT. In total $2,244.00 was raised for the Lighting the Lamp Campaign.
